Yupun breaks 100M National record in Germany (Video)

Italy based sprinter Yupun Abeykoon smashed the 100m National Record set by Himasha Eashan of 10.22 with sizzling 10.16 (+0.4 )seconds in International Meeting at Dessau/Germany, where he beats the German Champs Denis Almas to win the event.
His time now also record as a new South Asian record of 100m, which was also held by Eashan’s time of 10.22 seconds.
Abeykoon, who anchored the Sri Lanka 4x100M Relay team to win the Gold medal at South Asian Games 2019, continued his training in Italy even during the period of the Covid19 pandemic, to achieve his dream of representing Sri Lanka at the Tokyo Olympic Games
he needs to run under 10.05 seconds to earn direct qualification for the Olympics
