Nationals – Head to Head – Nimali, Gayanthika vs young Dilshi in 800m

For years it was a battle between Nimali Liyanarachchi and Gayanthika Abeyrathne for 800m tile with Nimali comes on top at most of the occasion , apart from when Gayanthika set the current standing National record of 02:02.55 seconds.

Nimali is the defending Gold medalist of South Asian Games, has Asian championship Gold medal and participation of World Championship for her name. Gayanthika was the bridesmaid for most of Nimali’s wins , with silver medal in Asian championship and South Asian Games though she won the gold medal in Asian Grand prix and Asian Indoor Games. 

But this time the it wont be a dual between the experienced duo as young Dilshi Kumarasinghe is aiming to make her mark at senior level in her pet event . She has personal best of 2:04.23 seconds from 2018 and just this year she ran an amazing 52 seconds lap at Asian Championship . Can the 20 year old create an upset or will be a battle between to experienced duo at the end
