A.Rathnayake CC Walala’s runner Dilshi Kumarasinghe excelled setting two new meet records at the Junior National Athletics Championship continued for the third day at Sugathadasa stadium, Colombo yesterday.
Dilshi who has already grabbed stardom with her excellent 800m run dipping under the record breaking 2 minutes and 10 clocked 55.94 seconds during the 400m heats for under 20 girl’s shattering the record set by Shivanthi Kumari Rathnayake of St. Joseph’s BV Kegalle of 56.08 sec and is warming up for a better run in the finals. Other 400m runner Wattala Lyceum’s Sachini Divyanjali too equaled the previous record clocking 56.08 seconds and she is set to give stiff competition to Dilshi who is the favorite to win today’s finals.
