Aruna eyeing Manoj’s record (47.00 sec)

Four day Junior National championship will comes to an end today with the 100m and 400m finals on the card where boys Under 20 400m finals will be the event to watch. Aruna Darshana from Weerakeppetipola National School, Akuramboda clocked 47.13 seconds in the 400m semi-finals. His present time is better than the time clocked at last three editions by the Asian Junior Gold medalists where the country’s hope for another Asian Junior Gold is already sky high.

Darshana who clocked a record breaking 21.38 seconds in the 200m just the other day did not have any fight during the semi-finals but in the finals with the other two 47 second runners, Aruna will be pushed further where he is eying to shatter one of the longest standing records today of 47.00 seconds made by Manoj Pushpakumara in the boys under 20 400m set in 2004.
