National Trials in April – Application closing on March 31st

Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) has published list of athletes who are eligible to compete at the Senior National selection trials to be held from 7-9 April at the Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo.

However, SLA has restricted participants for the National trials to abide by the COVID-19 prevention DREAM protocol of the Health Authorities. Hence, they have selected a list of eligible athletes to compete at the trials based on their performance at the 2020 National Athletics Championship held last December at the same venue.

Apart from that, other athletes who wish to compete at the trials have to submit a self-prepared appeal to SLA. SLA has published a set of qualifying standards, and athletes who have achieved those qualifying standards during the period 2019 January to 2021 March can apply.

Meanwhile, SLA has decided to conduct a junior trial on the same dates, where events and entries will be limited. Trials will be held for 100m,400m, 800m, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Javelin Throw events.

SLA has published qualifying standards for entries. Junior athletes born in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and had achieved those qualifications within the period 1 January 2019 to 31 March 2021 are eligible to apply to SLA with a self-prepared application.

SLA office will be open on 27 (Saturday) for the convenience of athletes who wish to submit entries.
