South Asian Cross Country championship Postponed

The second South Asian Cross Country Championship has been postponed due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. The Championship was to be held on 15 February at the Nuwara Eliya golf course and Sri Lanka was set to host the event for the first time. The first South Asian Cross Country was held in Bhutan in 2018.

Meanwhile, Army Volunteer Forces cross country championship which was to be held on 6 February at the same venue has also been postponed due to the same reason.

These are the first major Championships in Sri Lanka to be postponed due to the novel cronoavirus outbreak. Several other international athletics championships too have been postponed. Asian Indoor Championship which was to be held in February in China was cancelled, while the World Indoor Championship, which was also to be held in China in March was postponed to 2021. The Hong Kong Marathon which was scheduled to be held on 9 February has also been cancelled.
