South Asian Games to be held in March , 2019 at Nepal with addition of Cricket

South Asian’s Olympic Committee (SAOC) meeting on Saturday at Kathmandu confirmed that Nepal will host the 13th edition of the South Asian Games in March 2019.

The Games is  presently penciled to be held on March 9-18  at  at Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal while Cricket and Paragilding  has been added to the schedule

This will be second instant where Cricket is added to the South Asian Games where 2010 Dhaka edition included under 21 cricket tournament but not retained to the next edition which held at Shillong and Guwahati India in 2016.

Paragilding is a recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure.This will be the first instant that paragliding added in any major multi-sports event , which Sri Lanka take part in.

Sri Lanka won total of 25 Gold medals in SAG 2016 with 9 coming from Athletics and 12 coming from swimming. But Sri Lanka could not even come close to the super mercy of India during the game where they won 188 Gold medals.

The SAOC committee meeting held on Saturday at Kathmandu where NOC president Suresh Subramaniam and Secretary general Maxwell de Silva represented Sri Lanka .
