Ireshani back with stunning 13.95
|Former National champion hurdler Ireshani Rajasinghe, stunned the arena dipping under 14 seconds to clocked a personal best of 13.95 seconds in the 100m Hurdles. She also turned tables over defending National champion Lakshika Sugandhi who finished second with her personal best of 13.99 seconds. This is the second race Ireshani competed after her come back to the track following a year off due to an injury. Her time is the fourth fastest SL female hurdler in the history behind Shriyani Kulawansa, Sonali Merril and Pradeepa Herath.
Ireshani’s time is also the best by a local female hurdler in 14 years when excluded expat athlete Sonali Merril’s one time performance of 13.81 seconds in 2014.
Former Gateway hurdler trains Cuban coach Luis Miranda did not had a best season earlier where she lost couple of races to Sugandhi in her pet event before faced further unfortunate as her injuries got worsen which kept her off the track for an year.
She did made a return winning the first trials just two weeks ago but she seems relentless even after the win where she finally had her moment after all the hard work clocking sub 14 seconds against -3.0 wind and also beating Sugandhi in a 100m hurdle final.
