Ravishka Indrajith, Sandumini Bandara and Sachini Divyanjali qualified for the finals, while hurdler Shehan Kariyawasam finished fifth with a personal best effort in the 110m hurdles at the second Asian Youth Athletics Championship that began at the National Stadium, Bangkok earlier today(20th).Josephian Kariyawasam clocked his personal best time of 14.21 seconds in the final but could only finish fifth in his event.
Ravishka Indrajith from St. Benedict’s College, clocked 48.62 seconds in the 400m, which is his personal best in the event, and finished second in the semi-final. Earlier he had finished first in the heats to qualify for the final to be held today. Sprinter Sachini Divyanjali from Lyceum Wattala finished fourth in 100m heats in a time of 12.35 seconds but managed to get into the final.
Sandumini from St. Joseph’s BV Kegalle clocked 57.52 seconds in the girls 400m and finished second in the heats and qualified for the final today.Sprinter Suraj Rathnasiri clocked 10.89 seconds in the 100m and finished second in the heats, but in the semis only managed a time of 10.93 seconds to finish fourth. .
