DILINI EDGES SADEEPA IN LONG JUMP

Dilini Gomes of Lyceum International School Wattala edged out Sadeepa Henderson of Gateway College Colombo in the long jump while middle distance runner Gayan Bandara set a new meet record in the International School Athletics Championship (ISAC) 2017 which started despite a so called bomb threat at Diyagama yesterday.Gomes’ leap of 5.24m in the girls’ under-17 long jump edged out Sadeepa by just 0.3cm who finished second with 5.21m.

Bandara from Lyceum International School Wattala clocked one minute 58.50 seconds to set a new meet record in the boys under-20 800m. Five out of six 800m races were won by Lyceum International School Wattala keeping their dominance from day one while one athlete from Gateway College Colombo, Filzah Farouk was able to win the under-17 girls 800m event.

Lyceum International School Wattala lead the points table with 378 points at the end of day one while Gateway College Colombo is behind with 263 points. Lyceum Nugegoda is in third place with 184 points.
