Nadeesha hospitalized with fever

Nadeesha Ramanayaka, another of Sri Lanka’s medal hopes, was admitted to a local hospital in Kathmandu on Tuesday, as she is suffering from fever during the South Asian Games. Nadeesha was set to run in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m during the Games. She was in prime form to win Gold medals based on the fitness trial a week ago.

Several athletes who resided at the Sugathadasa Sports hostel suffered from viral fever, which turned out to be dengue (low platelet count). Three beach volleyball players fell ill even before coming to Nepal and Triple Jumper Greshan Dhananjaya was admitted to Negombo hospital on 28 Nov.

Apart from the above mentioned, several other athletes too were suffering from fever, which mercifully did not get worse to dengue level.
