Womens 100m Head to Head battle
Young Shelinda Jansen enjoyed her emphatic wins at senior athletics earlier this year with Country’s top female sprinter , Rumeshi Rathnayaka opted out from the trials .
But for Nationals the defending SAG Gold medalist Rumeshika will be back so will be the Asian Junior silver medalist Amasha de Silva.
Meanwhile, long jump sensation Sarangi Silva also clocked 12.00sec as her PB & SB at National Sports Festivals, Western Province Athletics championships.
Can Rumeshika makes a successful return to local athletics arena after an absent of nearly an year? or will Shelinda continue her glory in the short sprinting ..

Womens 200m Head to Head battle
Asian Athletics championships 200m silver medalist Rumeshika Rathnayaka will be on track to secure her title in 200m while young Shelinda Jansen also will try to impress with a personal best.
Nadeesha Ramanayaka the 400m national champion also set to test here sprinting skills in 200m at the National Athletics Championships.

Remember how the 20 year old Dilshi Kumarasinghe took over India’s most experienced quarter miler at the Asian Championship ,Poovamma Raju in that mesmerizing second leg at Qatar.. She will be the underdog against two heavyweights , Nadeesha Ramanayaka and Upamalika Rathnakumari in the 400m .
Nadeesha should be able to hold on to her national title though Dilshi posses biggest challenge. nevertheless SAG ruling of limiting one athletes per event could see a thrilling 400m contest , may be the closest Women’s 400m race in the island for last few years .. Can any of them go sub 53 seconds.
