Shelinda erased 32 year old record of Taniya Van Heer

Gateway Sprinter Shelinda Jansen clocked 24.98 seconds to set new meet record in the girls under 18 200m record of 24.8 (25.04 seconds ) set by Tania Van Heer 32 years ago in 1986 in the junior National Athletics championship continue for the day two at Sugathadasa stadium Colombo  .

competing from 5th lane , the 17 year old sprinter beat Madara Weerasooriya of St.Joseph’s BV Kegalle and her school mate Sadeepa Henderson in her record run before burst in to tears .
