A New Sri Lanka record by 4x100m Relay team ,finished 6th in the finals

The most impressive performance in track and field was produced by the 4x100m men’s relay team where Himasha Eashan, Vinoj Suranjaya de Silva, Shehan Ambepitiya and Mohammad Ashroff were able to renew their own SL record set in the 2015 Asian Championship in a new time of 39.08 seconds but finished sixth in the finals.

Only England, South Africa, Jamaica and Barbados were ahead of SL team where the SL team competed in the eighth lane and showed they have a real chance of winning a medal at the Asian Games. Earlier they finished third in the heats and advanced to the finals .
Meanwhile, javelin thrower Dilhani Lekamge (56.02m- 5th) and Prasad Wimalasiri (7.89m-7th) finished within the best eight but they could not perform as expected during the competition.
