Japanese delegates to support SL Athletes

A group of Japanese delegates have agreed to support four Sri Lankan athletes who won individual medals at the Asian Championship to target the next Olympic Games 2020 to be held in Tokyo Japan.

The selected athletes are 800m Gold medalist Nimali Liyanarachchi, Silver medalist Gayanthika Abeyrathne, 200m Silver Medalist Rumeshika Rathnayake and Javelin Throwing Silver medalist Dilhani Lekamge. The Japanese delegates have already visited Rumeshika Rathnayake’s house in Kegalle yesterday and are due to visit Nimali Liyanarachchi and Gayanthika Abeyrathne’s homes in Sooriyawewa today.
MP Buddhika Pathirana accompanied the delegates on their visit and is coordinating with Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara.
