Pasindu Malshan Claims Triple Jump Gold at South Asian Athletics Championships
Sri Lankan triple jumper K.A. Pasindu Malshan, aged 22, secured the gold medal at the 2025 South Asian Athletics Championships, continuing a strong season of performances across national and regional competitions.
Malshan, who began his athletic career in 2013 and specialized in triple jump from 2017, is a former student of Minu Yatiyana Romanu Katholika Vidyalaya and St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10. He was first coached by Nalin Priyantha Rathnasiri and hails from Kotagedara, Minuwangoda, where his family is engaged in farming.
His 2025 season has been marked by consistent results, including multiple podium finishes:
- 1st National Trials – 16.06m (Silver)
- 2nd National Trials – 16.07m (Silver)
- National Athletics Championships – 16.13m (Gold)
- Army Athletics Championships – 16.37m (Gold)
- National Sports Festival – 16.37m (Gold, Best Athlete)
- Defense Services Athletics Championships – 16.19m (Gold)
- South Asian Athletics Championships – 16.19m (Gold)
Malshan also represented Sri Lanka at the 2022 World Junior Championships, where he placed 11th in the triple jump event.
His performances this year reflect steady progression and technical consistency, positioning him as one of Sri Lanka’s leading athletes in the discipline.
