Nuwan Wins Bronze Medal at World Para Athletics Championship

Nuwan Indika Gamage clinched the bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championship held today in New Delhi, with a leap of 6.46m in the Men’s T44 Long Jump.

The gold medal went to Italy’s Marco Cicchetti, who matched the meet record with a jump of 6.98m, while Dzmitry Bartashevich, competing as a Neutral Paralympic Athlete, secured silver with a personal best of 6.90m.

This marks the second World Para Athletics Championship medal for the 34-year-old Nuwan, who previously won bronze in the T44 100m event at last year’s championship in Kobe, Japan.

In addition to his global success, Nuwan has a strong track record in the Asian Para Games, having won gold in the 100m in 2022 and silver medals in both the 2018 and 2022 editions.
