Former Sri Lanka Hammer Throw record holder Ayesha Maduwanthi returned to the track on Saturday, when she participated at the Victorian Track & Field Championship week one. With very little preparation she finished 5th with a performance of 43.03m.
Maduwanthi who won the National Championship several times before she left for Australia on a scholarship. She has not yet given up her dream of achieving greater glory in her pet event in the near future, as she balances her studies, work and training.
The 31-year-old thrower who trained under coach Madhawa Bandara in Sri Lanka, now trains under veteran Australian coach Gus Puopolo.
